Update (12/12/25) on Radon Testing and Safety Measures at Dunloe Elementary School

As part of our commitment to keeping you informed on each step in the process, we are providing an update on the radon mitigation efforts at Dunloe Elementary.

On Tuesday, December 9, 2025, the Groveport Madison Schools Board of Education took formal action, approving (3-2 vote) to proceed with permanent radon mitigation at Dunloe Elementary School over winter break. This action allows the district to move forward promptly with the recommended mitigation plan while students and staff are out of the building.

Once mitigation is complete, we will conduct follow-up radon testing at the earliest available window to verify the effectiveness of the system and measure the reduction in radon levels. These post-mitigation tests are a critical part of the process and will help ensure levels fall within recommended safety guidelines.

We will continue implementing the temporary mitigation measures already in place, including increased fresh air circulation and adjusted HVAC settings, until permanent mitigation is completed and follow-up testing confirms the expected improvements.

In addition, during the same December 9 meeting, the Board of Education approved action (3-2 vote) to begin radon testing at all Groveport Madison school buildings starting over winter break and continuing into 2026. This proactive, districtwide approach allows us to identify and address potential concerns early and reinforces our commitment to safe learning environments for all students and staff.
